This
delightful little frizzante red from Piedmont is a cousin to Brachetto
d’Acqui, and equal to Brachetto in its affinity for chocolate. Made
from the Mavasia Nero grape, Casorzo is fairly sweet, slightly fizzy and
low in alcohol. Low in price, too, at $13, making this wine a steal.
The same winery produces a single-vineyard version called “Sulin,â€
which sells for the same price in a 500-ml bottle. It’s also very
good, but I actually like the Voulet even better. The 2008 vintage is
now on the market.
